Library Commission
The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the operation of the Menlo Park libraries by keeping in touch with patrons and the general public; promotes the use of the libraries; reports on library activities and encourages public as well as legislative support for library services. The Commission also maintains lines of communication with the Friends of the Menlo Park Library, the Menlo Park Library Foundation and the Project Read-Menlo Park Literacy Partners.

Support of small business resources – including business materials collection; business electronic resources (databases)
Facilitation of the operation of small businesses through the availability of free and stable WiFi Facilitation of on-line job applications and resume building
Facilitation of general Internet literacy training
Support English literacy efforts through interaction with Project Read.
Future focused planning and visioning supporting a high quality of life
Outreach to the community using the "Meet Your Commission" (MYC) format.
Advise on methods of increasing visibility of the Library and its programs through electronic media by creating an electronic patron contact plan and mechanism.
Develop a vision and plan for the evolution of library services offered in the Belle Haven neighborhood.
Regional focus creating synergy of efforts on issues of mutual interest
Consult on the update of the Library Strategic Plan to include the evolution of materials of all types (electronic, books, disk based) and in maintaining our membership with PLS and PLP.
Advise library staff and help prepare the public as the implementation for the PLS wide RFID rollout occurs. Advise and inform the public of the broader regional network (PLS & PLP) for the facilitation and best uses of new tech and the efficient implementation of that tech.
